Gregory Lamar Crager was approved Feb. 23 as the new head football coach of Thomasville High School by the Thomasville City Board of Education.

He replaces Jack Hankins Jr., who has retired and taken a coaching position at Wayne County High School in Mississippi.

Crager has served as athletic director, head football coach and head track and field coach at Millry High School since May 2016.

He has also served as an assistant coach at Thompson High School, Spanish Fort High School, Robertsdale High School and Leroy High School.

A native of Millry, he graduated from Millry High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education-Secondary Social Science from Auburn University and his Masters of Education from the University of West Alabama.

“I am thrilled and truly blessed to be the next coach of Thomasville football,” Crager said. “The rich tradition, passion, and support of Thomasville excites us and makes us grateful to be part of the Tiger family. God has blessed us with this opportunity, and we want to be faithful by working with all of our might, all of our strength, and all of our soul to make the school and community a better place.”

Crager and his wife Mariana have a son, Gabriel. They are expecting to add a fourth member to the team in September.
